test drove 1999

hey, i test drove a 1999 4runner sport edition the other day, and it seemed to have no pickup at all. My friend has a 1998 and his seems much faster, and so does my 4cyl CR-V!!! Could it just need a tune up, or are 1999 slow for some reason? :wtf:

It may have needed some TLC.
There should be a slight increase of power from 98 to 99.

The 96-98 4Runners are lighter than the 99-02. I think 96-98 were around 3800 while the 99-02 were 4100?...somewhere around there. It's due to the new front bumper and the center differential for the full time 4 wheel drive. I drove my friends 01 4Runner and it's slower than mine too (97). I'm guessing it's same power....but more mass, so it's just going to be slower.
