Temp gauge swap ?

I think the cluster has been swaped in my 4Runner (no VSS on the back of the cluster "I think") Anyway my temp gauge stays in the middle all of the time. (except when shut off) If this cluster came out of a 4cyl would this affect the way it reads on my V6? While I am at it my oil pressure never goes all the way down, even the the motor shut off. Is this normal? Thanks for any help you can give.

do yourself a favor and put in a nice set of mechanical gauges in your rig also with your cluser if its a 4 bannger set your tach would be off. btw what year is your rig?

Sounds like your gauges are messed up... For the last 10 - 15 years, at least, there've been no significant differences between spec oil pressure and temperature expectations on the 4cyl versus the 6cyl. The tach, on the other hand, has to be matched to the number of cylinders.

Maybe a wiring fault that's bleeding some current to both gauge circuits and 'zeroing' them in the middle of the gauge range when the ignition is activate?
