Ok I'm about to start my swap from an auto to a manual and need definite answers on which tranny and t-case will bolt up. It's a 91 4runner with the 3.slow and automatic right now. Sorry for all of the following questions but I know you guys know all the answers!

1. Which (codes) 5 speed transmissions will bolt straight up to the 3.0 without modifications?

2. What is the strongest transmission out of these that I should put in? (I'm planning on rebuilding it before I put it in)

3. Should I keep the t-case that comes with it if I can get the two together?
(and what is the code for t-case that bolts up to the strongest applicable transmission for me?)

4. Do I need to change the engine ECU, does the manual transmission have a separate ECU that "talks" to the engine ECU(meaning I would have to buy both computers together from a donor truck)?

5. And finally, what kinds of driveshaft modifications will be needed when I do swap to a manual? (will the rear need to be lengthened or shortened; same with the front)

Sorry for all of the questions, I just can't find definite answers anywhere and I don't want to miss out on a stronger, more practical tranny/t-case combo. Thank you VERY much for all of your help in advance!! Hopefully it'll make this swap alot easier.

As far as being a straight swap, in theory they should however I have read on the 3.4l v6 swap there are issues with I believe the machining of the crank output which differs on some automatics and manuals. Possibly the same could be true on the 3.0s as well.
As long as you have it all out, why not swap to the gear drive transfercase using one of his adapters as well. The v6s use the weaker and unmodifiable chain drive, but with the gear drive you can get the lower gear set:

According to http://www.ecudirect.com they do use two different ECUs. This could also mean you will have to do some wiring modifications which might only be in the "snip this one off" category.
I don't know the answer for sure on the drivelines, but I would think if you go with the gear drive transfercase you would need a different driveline. I don't imagine they would have the same bolt pattern.
I would do some deep digging on Pirate4x4.com and then ask them over there. No doubt there are a dozen guys over there that have done it before.
