tail lights help(updated)
Ok, I have been having a problem with my 92 4-runner. the fuse for the tail lights, and dash lights keeps blowing. I did a search, and seems it is a normal problem. I saw 4 other people that had the same problem, but no one said what the fix for it was, or what it ended up being. so my question is, I know it is a short some where, but where? where is the common place, have any of you guys had the problem, and where was your short. I need to fix this thing quick, I just got all night classes, and need lights. TIA

ok still trying to get this one.
I have checked all the bulbs, and wires where i can see them in the rear. the front side marker light that goes on with the parking lights was out. so i replaced the bulb, and the fuse that keeps blowing. the lights worked fine for 5 days, today the bulb in the front, went out, and the fuse blew. any ideas on what would make that happen?? any help is good help. tia

You have a short in the wiring somewhere. It is a pain to find them. If you can get a wiring diagram you might be able to isolate it section by section. Look for a common wiring junction and trace it area by area. Look for high wear areas. They are right about under the dash, often wires get caught, pinched, etc. by the pedals. That is where I would start.

woot woot. spent the day away from the jeep, and with the toyota. tore into the dash, traced wires, found nothing, jumped the fuse, shook the wires, moved them around and poked around till i made it spark. sure enough, the the shrink wrap was worn away on the dimmer wire that goes to the area by the radio, and was shorting out. yay, plus while it was in there, i fixed the ugly stereo install job(don't let friends do stuff, if you want it done right, ya gotta do it your self) and now i have back speakers, tail lights, dash lights, and i don't have a leaky break line. all in all, i'd say it was a good day.. now, time for bed.
