tacoma sunroof?

Any of you guys have a 98 or newer taco with sunroof? Is there a structural difference between the non sunroof model and the sunroof model? I would like to put one in but if it weakens the stucture too much i wont. Thanks for the feedback.

I had a sunroof in my 98 Limited Taco. It was great, but only popped up. Aftermarket sunroofs can be a real disaster, especially with the amount of rainfall you get up there. Pick and choose wisely.

Keep in mind, I dont think a retractable roof is an option on an extra cab. There may not be sufficient space for it to slide into the roof. Now, you may be able to get one that pops up, then slides back (somewhere in the aftermarket world), but who knows.

You are looking at spending a pretty penny for a properly installed quality sunroof. I would say $1K - $2K CAN.

I saw a Tacoma with a retractable sunroof recently. I don't know if it was factory or not but the glass definately went down and in just like the sunroof on my 94.

I had a pop up sunroof installed in my Honda Accord about six years ago. It was around $175 installed. I could have put in an electric model that would go up and then back over the roof for around 7 or $800.

I don't recommend doing what I did on a unibody vehicle because I can hear the sunroof creeking when I drive onto uneven terrain. This reminds me that the roof transmitts some of the car's torsional rigidity and I paid someone to cut a hole in it.

With a body on frame vehicle you won't have to worry about that, so cut it up!!!!

Spend the extra money and get a nice one.
