Are Tacoma & 4Runner Seats & Cab Different?
Why is it that tacoma seats are so much laid back and more comfortable than 4runner, is the seat itself different, or is the entire cab of the tacoma more laid back, and is the windshield more angled and less vertical on the taco?
I sold a 7" GPS to a friend with a 4runner and it shakes like hell on his window, and it never shook on my tacoma so our theory was that the 4runner windshield and entire cab is more vertical - causing vibrations to transfer easier into the large GPS; which would explain why 4runner seats feel so much more upright.

I don't have a Taco to measure even if I could, this happened several months ago, I now have bought my own 4runner and thinking about selling cause I miss the Taco seats. But again, I don't think its just the seats, I think the whole cab is more vertical on the 4runner.

I only have the ability to measure a 4runner right now; what do you mean by tracks - the seat track dimensions?
What I think though is that the windshield is more vertical too, like the whole cab is oriented different - which I never would have though as you would think Toyota would make them the same dimensions for the front...

well i would imagine that they'd be different because the cabs are different sizes. Also you said iirc the 4runner was more comfortable, but the seats could be in much better shape etc. I would guess a 4 door taco seats would be very similar to the 4runner seats.

I have owned several tacos and several 4runners of this generation, a few brand new, and its not seat condition or fabric vs leather; the Taco is much more comfortable for some reason - I think the seat is higher in relation to the dash or something.
The only reason Im asking is because if its just the seats Im gonna swap them in my 4runner with taco seats, even if its a job; but... if its the entire cab like I think that causes this better seating/driving experience then Im selling my 4runner for a taco.

well the cabs would have to be different, they trucks are different sizes. Dont quote me any of this! I would say find a buddy with a taco, and compare seats.

The problem isn't the cab and/or seats "being more veritcal" or some such nonsense. It's probably because he needs a balance and rotate on his tires.

My 5" GPS is very stable on my 4runner. I belive in TSB SU002-96. The Toyota wheels need to be balanced with a Hawaka Adapter also known as a finger plate adapter at discount tires. It made my ride smooth. It used to have cronic 65mph steering wheel vibration. I never had the window shake however. Maybe a tire balace with the adaptor would help your friends 4runner. Or it's a driveline issue, balance driveshaft or it's a bad ujoint?

In addition the 4runner has a smoother ride than the Tacoma due to the coil springs in the rear - so if anything this scenario should be the other way around.
As I said, pretty sure more vertical windshield would cause more of an up and down movement with this big GPS; there was no movement at all in the tacoma which has a much stiffer ride.

Im sorry but with all this gps nonsense, this thread is pointless. Take some measurements, see if your thought is right. If you're not going to measure it, theres nothing else to post about; unless someone else has actual input.

I thought this simple question would be common knowledge for a Toyota fanatic which there must be a few of here, but guess not.
That said, I know it sounds funny, but I am f'n tellin you guys the GPS bounced like crazy in the 4runner, there is something RADICALLY different between the two trucks! It blew me and my friend away.
