Suspension issues: 91 4x4 Pickup

here's the deal. My 91 pickup has fatigued rear leaf springs. The last owner put in a set of Add-a-leafs. It was still sagging so much that I added 3-inch blocks with shackes. One of the add-a-leafs is now broken (half missing) and I want to fix this situation. Here are some options: 1) just remove add-a-leafs (whats left anyway) 2) Buy new add-a-leafs 3) Buy new Springs

My biggest problem is that I don't know what size lift the truck has.

FYI, it has 8 rancho 5000 shocks, 2 at each wheel in the front, and one vertical and one horizontal at each wheel area in the rear.

What do you all think of these?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks

hey wassup! looks like we have the same truck!

I bought my 91 p/u a year ago, and it came with a lift. the front is a trailmaster... its just those drop bracket deals... about 4".

the rear came with lift blocks and stock springs! oMG THEY SUCKED off road. SUCH A HORRID RIDE! and it sagged. so my first mod to the truck was new springs.

imo, id go for NEW springs. i think they are worth it. not only for safety (lift blocks suc and put extra strain on the ubolts) but for ride quality. i was strapped for cash at the time, so i went with DOWNEY springs. they were like $150 for the rear pair. great deal and i bought ext rubicon shackles for $40. the downey springs are supposed to be the same spring rate as stock, so they ride pretty good. the max lift that they sell is 3" though, so i got the ext shackles, which about evened it out with the frong 4". they recommend not to do both spring and ext shackle coz it fatigues them quicker, but i have no problems so far. they sag a little, but not too bad.

if you have some more money, maybe you can look into like allpro, or aor, etc springs.

youre running 2x at each end? DANG. that must ride kinda stiff no? my truck came with single 5000's in the rear, and dual 5000's up front. one one blown on the driver side. i thought that was kinda excessive, so i removed one and now i have single 5000s all around. i want to get bilsteins though! *drool*

im assuming you have a front lift... and dont know how high the lift is? im guessing its the drop bracket thingy too so u can just measure from bolt to bolt on the lift. ... or u can go ask your local 4x4 store. i went to mine a lot when i first got my truck and learned a lot from them

now with my doweys, my truck rides SOOOO MUCH BETTER. i took it off road after i got them, it made a HUGE difference!

check my signature for my truck specs and pic.

do it the right way, and get new springs.
