Surco Rack owners with light brackets
For those of you that bought the optional light brackets on the Surco roof racks... the black ones (I can't remember what they called it, not the urban rack though) how sturdy are the brackets themselves? The reason I ask is I plan on buying 2 sets and having 3 lights on the front of the bracket (unsure if they will just be "dummy lights" or funtional) and the third one on the side to place either a 3' or 4' firestik cb antenna. I've got a bracket I fabbed up using L brackets from Lowe's but it's beginning to bend from the trees snagging the 6' even with the spring. Do you think they would suppor the weight of the antenna? Thanks in advanced.

the ones from surco are pretty tough. Its called the safari rack.
I made some L brackets also, but I drilled into the basket. I dont know if the mount will be able to support that much bending and movement from the antenna. I guess you could always give it a shot, or find a way to make the L bracket stronger.

I drilled my mount as well on the flat part of the rack on the side and put 2 bolts through them. I think I should have used a thicker bracket as the ones were aluminum, but I used 2 for the extra support on both sides and not have to worry about the metal on the rack from shearing off.
