fabricate some. I know that supra seats from 1986.5 - 1991 did not fit any other toyotas. I looked into those a while back since I used to have a 1987 and I loved the seats. I am not sure about the newer ones though. The brackets needed would not be that hard to make though if they don't fit perfectly. My guess is that they won't

I'm assuming you mean Mk IV Supra (93.5-98), and not Mk VI (2025 or whenever they decide to get off their corporate asses and make a Toyota supercar again)?

I tried the Mk III seats in a 1st gen Surf, but they were way too low, and I didn't want to compromise the seat-to-body integrity by fabbing some blocks or something. I think you will find the Mk IV seats are the same, and will have to be severely shimmed or blocked to have any visibility.

The Supra seats have electronic lumbar support, which I thought would be good for my posture as i suffer from low back pain. Are there any other seats from other Toyotas or makes which wouldl fit or would I have to make brackets ?

I don't know about the UK version of our trucks, but the 1984-1989 US 4Runners (Surfs) had what many automotive and truck magazines considered the "best seats" in any vehicle. They have manual lumbar support, as well as side bolsters, seat cushion rake, and the standard seat back incline, forward/rear slide, and adjustable head rests (up/down, and 5 position rake). It appears from your Avatar that you have a newer version of this truck (early 90s, maybe?), but I know they are interchangable.

My personal opinion, owning both Supras and 4Runners, is the the seats in the truck beat those in the "sports" car hands down.

My Surf seats do have lumber support but, for some reason the lumbar support seems to be in the middle of my back and not where I would like the support to be i.e lower back. My Surf has all the other adjustments which you mentioned, however the other reason why I have decided to change the seats are due to the wear on the drivers seat. It is a Japnese import into the UK, year of manufacture is 1994, and there is a great deal of wear on this seat, you can almost see the foam on one part of the seat and it will only be time before it wears or tears.

Phil,

If your current lumbar support isn't adequate, you won't find much better in the Supra seats (at least the Mk IIIs that I have). The support is in the same location of your back, only it activates electrically instead of via the lever. Good luck anyway in your search! Perhaps the Mk IV seats have what you need.

I have managed to fit the passenger seat today, it took about 1 1/2 hrs with a couple of brackets which I made, as the seat moves back it gets lower as i have fitted it at an angle, however I do not think that this will affect the viewing or seating position much. I have the wife testing it out tomorrow before I fit the drivers seat.

Phil, regardless if you end up going with the seats we want pictures of your truck. I want to see a 3.0 diesel bad. I would love to have that engine. by the way what tranny and transfer case do you have? What side on the front axle is the diff?
