SUNROOF/MOONROOF ON '98 SR5 4Runner
It seems as though the motor for my sunroof/moonroof has gone out. It doesnt move at all when i press either of the buttons. Luckily it was closed when died! I am curious to know how much I will end up paying to have this fixed.

big time dollars. It's pretty time consuming to get everything apart to get at the motor, so labor costs will be high. I have no idea what the actual motor costs. You might be better off getting the entire sunroonf assembly from a local scrap yard and replacing it yourself - it's not hard, just time consuming.

mine in a 97 4runner went out just the same as yours, just mine went out when it was tilted. i took mine to the dealer and to get it fixed was $1,500!! i guess it needed new tracks and a bunch of crap.....i just asked to get it shut and thats how it stands.

the glass sunroof on my 98 exploded while i was on the interstate near san diego. i was next to a truck so i guess it was hit with a rock or something. no scratches on the truck anywhere.
my insurance paid $2200 to get the glass and cables replaced.
personally, i don't believe it needed the cables but the dealership insisted and the insurance paid it.
