sudden drop in gas mileage
 Hi guys. I have a 95 4runner with 76,000 miles on it. it has consistently averaged about 19mpg. now all of a sudden it has dropped. I have not driven far enough to really measure it but am going by the gas guage.I used a half tank to go 100 miles. Normaly I can go about 150 miles on a half tank. It still runs smooth, does not smoke. Does not seem to miss. Air filter is clean. Spark plugs were replaced with platinum plugs at 38,000 miles during a head gasket recall. I'm leaning toward plugs being the culprit. Any ideas?

Sudden drop ehh? Let me tell you a story about this gas station in NJ run by a guy in a turban that made my MPG 9 down from 16-17 winter MPG. I prolly should not though

Did you say the plugs were last changed at 38k miles?? Hmm...
I have a '95 and I average about 100-125 miles on half a tank...so with my incredible math skills that would average to about 200-250 a tank, oh man...I'm the arithmatic master!
Welcome the to low MPG club bud!

Now that I have black rock crawlers and new BFGs A/T TA KOs, I hope that my average won't decrease.
I've noticed on this tank, I've only gotten 138 miles for the first half tank. Normally, I see around 160+.
Tomorrow, I'll be doing about 80 miles of driving in town and I ought to be able to fit them in this tank; if I don't, it's not good news.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Not to discourage you or anything KING, but my Tech1s and 285s killed my milage. Even just the rock crawlers killed it. All that extra rotational weight really makes a difference. I'm consideing getting another wheel/tire set as they will probably pay for themselves in less than a year. I have found myself goign to fill up twice a week now  . I'm going to try getting a good tune up this weekend and see if that doesn't help a bit.
