Dumb question, but is the steering wheel also locked when this happens?

Get a new key cut exactly to your VIN by the dealer.

The key I use is a crappy Lowes copy of the orig. It gets stuck in the ingnition all the time.

I put the key in the on position, (don't turn on the car ) foot on the brake, and pull the shifter fron park to drive back into park, then try and take the key out.

Vary the above technique with foot on/off brake, and repeat moving the shifter.

It sounds crazy but it works.

REVIVE!!

So what happened? I'm having the same issues and absolutely HATE IT!! If I have to pay big $$ so it works then freaking fine. The dealer wants like $25 for a stupid key. I had to leave the key in it while I was at the grocery last night and that's not cool.

I think even the dealership cut ones can be a little finnicky (sp?). I had one cut when I bought my truck because they only had one key from the previous owner. It tends to stick in the ignition but the original key doesn't.

Edit: I agree though, have the dealership cut you a new one. Or maybe if you have a really good locksmith near you they can do it?
