Stripped Wheel Lock Nuts
Alright, I bought what I thought were some decent locknuts for my wheels. When I put them on the first time I should have took them off and taken them back to the parts house I bought them from because they were a piece of crap. I thought that I would have been able to get them off later on down the road when I had the money to buy some better ones. Now they are stripped both the key and the lock lugs on the passenger side. I haven't bothered with the drivers side yet since I'll probably get the same results. Anyone got an idea on how to get them off?

Most tire/auto repair shops can cut them off for a small fee. Take it to somplace you trust, if they aren't careful they can really damage your wheels in the process, I've seen it happen.

Metalhed: I tried the visegrips but couldn't get a good angle on the grips or the nut itself. I'm going to try to stop by sears sometime either today or tomorrow and see if they got one of those bolt-out things in the size I need.

One thing that a tire shop did for me before, is to get a half-inch-drive deep socket, I'm guessing about 3/4" or what ever size is close to the O.D. of the wheel lock, but just small enough that it has to be driven on with a hammer, then use a breaker bar in the socket to loosen the lock after you tap it on. Then you have to use a long skinny punch to beat the wheel lock out of the socket. It will probably work best with a 12 point socket, and it may ruin it. But if it was a craftsman, then you could get it replaced for free. I've seen this work, but its not easy, maybe as a last resort if you can't fing the bolt-extractor thingy in the right size...
