its easy
he would not take it off because he was afraid it would snap off flush with wheel. there easy to do your self heres how. take your tire and drum off. get a punch and hammer and pound out the broke stud. to install the new one you'll need a impact gun for the air compressor to draw the new one in. has splines that fit tight in axle flange. slide the new stud threw the hole and put a couple washers on it with a plain lug nut on backwards then tighten it with gun till the splines are pulled into axle. the back of lug stud will be flush with axle. you mite have to spin axle around to find spot where stud will fit with brakes still on. hope that helps.
have fun

If the torque on the air wrench was set for "MAC Truck" there might be a problem.

this happens from the last person that rotated the tires tightening them way to much. be glad you don't have a old solig axle truck you have to pull the whole rotor off to change the front stud
it takes almost 2 hours to do

Re: its easy
If it breaks off flush it's easy, if it strips out in such a way that the nut gets stuck on and just spins freely (had it happen) you're gonna have to cut it off first before you can punch the rest of the stud out.

You may, but if the nut's screwed up chances are the stud is as well. Or it may just be seized a bit and the guy's a :chicken: Put it this way, if it breaks it breaks. You still have 5 good ones on that wheel so it's not like you can't drive it to a shop or wherever to get help replacing it.

Had this problem several times - always caused by some moron putting the nuts on with the impact wrench. Always, Always, Always start the nuts by hand. If you must use an air tool after that, use a socket drive or imapact on a low setting. Once the nuts are on all the way, snug them up with a torque wrench.
