Strange Squeak

I was backing out of the driveway this morning and noticed a squeak in the rear similar to a squeaky bed. It would speed up and slow down based on my speed.

There is NO squeak when going forward.

Any ideas on what it might me?

Is it time to grease the drive shaft perhaps?

Is there a mouse caught in your U-joint?

(apologies to Monty Python)

OK...replaced rear shoes and lubed the u-joints, slip yoke, etc.

And it still squeeks when I back up...

What could it be...is there some bearing where the axle comes out of t-case that could be causing this?

HELP!

Or I'm off to the dealer first thing in the morning.

Update

Well I stated in my previous post that after lubing the u-joint, slip yoke and cardian joint, it still sqeaked.

Well low and behold as I was backing out of the drive this morning to drive to the dealer, I noticed the squeak was gone. :bounce

I guess the lube needed to sit overnight and work its way into the tiny spaces.

For piece of mind I still took it to the dealer for a look see and they said everything looked great.
