strange rear end and or parking brake problem

So lately my truck has been acting kinda weird. I just had a new FL caliper and new pads installed, as well as a full brake flush. My brake idiot light doesn't turn off even though the parking brake is all the way off.

since than my truck has been acting strange from a stop. it feels like the truck has the parking brake on when I am stopped. When if I give it gas the revs go up but the wheels don't move untill i give it enough gas. when this happend i feel a little bump in the rear end and I move forward. The rear doesn't get hot, and I don't think the brake drums really are eaither. Do I just need my rear brakes adjusted? if so how do i do it?

Problems I can see...leaky rear axle seal..very small leak though and it hasn't been going on long. Also, I have a torn outer CV boot on the drivers side (not related at all)

thanks

Maybe the leaky axle seal doesn't see too bad because the shoe is soaking up all the gear oil and consequently resulting in the symptom you've got? I'd get the leak taken care of and then make sure the CV axle is also not leading to any added resistance in the drive line too. I bet your problems will be gone after fixing both and of course adjusting the rears as well...

i have the same issue... i thought it was the wheel cylinder so i replaced that and it was good for almost a full day. only seems to do it when its colder... and now that i think about it there was what seemed like some grease or oil in the drum... but it seemed to be pretty dry... ive never seen this on any of my older toyotas... just the 99

Are they putting a new bearing on? I replaced the bearing at the same time just because if it is leaking bad, the gear oil can wash away the grease for the bearing.

It really is an easy job to replace the seals yourself and bring the axle in for a new bearing, FYI.

I live at the dorms and last time i had my truck up on jackstands for about 35 minutes before i got yelled at. Doing my own work at this point is not an option. Ill see what they will charge for a new bearing, but I don't think ill need it. this problem hasn't been going on for very long.

My front CV boot is the thing that scares me cost wise...

If the leak is not bad then it'll probably be fine.

College... My truck went through some rough times then. I'd either fix things half assed or it I would wait until absolute disaster would strike before I took it in to be worked on. I'm so glad I've got my own place with a garage now!

Good luck!
