I never had any of these problems with my steering rack prior to and after suspension mods, tire size increases, and offroading.

That said, I have that stock steering rack in my garage. Its for sale to anyone who may need it. Its dirty, but still worked fine when it was taken off at 120K miles.

im guessing its just wear and tear on the steering rack...Richmond City roads are reallly terrible. I would imagine replacing the steering rack would be the next step after replacing the bushings. Shipping and etc would probably be a killer though.

Seriously Matt, after replacing my bushings (at 85K miles mind you) with poly, the rack barely moves anymore. I can only imagine what the stock bushings look like at 211K!

yea im going to have to do lots of reading on that.

I just got a call back, the estimate for the wheelbearing was around 450! is that normal??

That seems a tad high. Granted they will have to pull the spindle off and press it out. Then replace the bearing with a new one and press it in. Considering shop prices, I guess that's about average. Call your local dealer real quick and ask them what they would charge and compare. That would tell you. Besides, I would rather have a genuine Toyota bearing in there myself.

What about poking around in a junkyard to look for a low(er) mileage spindle and just replacing the whole thing?
