Starting the plans for summer modding
So once school is out for the sumer i want to finish up a couple more things on car 4runner and do a few more mods. The first couple things are needed the rest if what i want opinions on.
So first off i need to redo my brakes completely which means:
the big tundra brakes - i pretty much confirmed they fit on the stock 16in 5 spoke rims (star) anyone else confirm that?
New rear shoes and drums if needed ( should be ok)
Im going to do both axle seals while im there
I would like to do stainless steal lines - any recommendations on where to get them??
second off i need to replace my sway bar end links both front and rear. One of the rears had all the grease squeezed out and the threads got cross threaded somehow. The front i got lazy and got out the impact wrench and guess what, cross threaded one of them boogers too, its holding just fine but i would like to be sure. So i want to replace all 4. Should i cough up the $250 for the wabfab front discos and longer rears or just go stock, Ive never had a need to disco the front and dont see the need any time soon but you never know.
Once those 2 are out of the way then the fun things come along and the list is long, fun and all depends on how much money i make:
New tires - still have about a yrs worth of tread left on the cooper discover's so i need opinions that. will be getting 265/75/16 nitto terra grapler when i finally do
Sound system and cb
Arb bumper and some rear bumper

weather tech liners
Board air system (already have a compesser i keep in the back)

Tundra brakes are a good idea, I personally wouldn't touch the rear. The brake drums on these rigs last a long long long long time. Plus I hate working on drum brakes
If your going rear bumper, your gonna have to have that custom made, so why not get the front custom made too to get a discounted package price. Plus your runner will be the only one out there like it because its custom and you get to say what you want on it.
Sliders are a great investment, my first one... and I use them all the time.
Are you lifted any? If so now is the time to go bigger, id suggest maxis bighorns 255/85/16's
Heck I'd suggest them in the 265/75/16 flavor. For my 33's it was 660otd (mounting, balancing, disposal and tax).

All Pro Off Road for the sliders. That 'bump out' they design into the rear saved my rear quarter panel last fall.
Irbis has a sweet TJM aluminum bull bar for your front-they were asking $900 but I bet they would come down for you and me twitchee.
Good idea on the rear axle seals-get to them before they soil your rear drums. Be sure to get the Yota seal recommended-part number ends with a digit 6.

The Tundra brakes should fit, but maybe a little grinding is needed. But do you need it? I'd say get some good rotors and pads and call it good. I regularly go up and down a mountain pass (which means lots of braking) and have yet to warp my rotors or noticed any brake fade.

Going custom front and rear is a really good idea, i may look into that. As for the brakes, im just going to do them all: 1 to learn how rear drums work, and 2 just so i know they have been done. Im also not really interesting in MT's but ill defiantly look into them, Why do you suggest them so much crolison?
As for sliders, wht do you guys think of trail gear sliders? they are ~135 if you build them yourself.
Im kind of bummed TJM does not ship the US any more, i really like those.
As for you question on if i actually need brakes, the way i look at it, you can never have enough brake power.
