Exclamation Starter Woes...Help!

I have a relatively new starter, It just got replaced within the last year and a half. My truck is an 81 w/ a refurbished 20R in it (the 20R runs awesome and I got it cheap, and needed a motor...dont ask...lol). I have a bad choke on my carb, so it takes a while to start the motor when its cold. I give it a light shot of starting fluid (I know, not good, but...only way...) then I crank it a few times and it starts. Well, yesterday morning, it wasnt cold out, so I gave her a shot of fluid, and started to crank. It cranked and cranked and finally died and now there is barely an audible click from the starter. At first I thought I had drained the battery, so I charged it, but the volt meter is registering full battery power. Did I fry the starter solenoid? I would really like some help, I need my truck back in running condition very soon. Plus its nice and I did my quick release hinges, and Im anxious to run w/ the doors off.

Thanks in advance.

Ian
