Starter replaced

I have a 97 4runner limited. Recently i had the starter replaced at the Toyota service dept. It sounds funny when i crankup...not smooth... I googled for starters and found a picture. Now how would i know if they replaced the starter or did they just use the starter kit. In my engine nothing looks new...The invoice shows:

Installed 28100-62030-84 : Reman starter 1@240.55
Sub Total : Labor : 135.00 Parts: 240.55 Total: 375.55

thanks

Reman starter = rebuilt starter from Toyota (ie not the kit)

Take a look under the truck and see if the outside of the starter looks new.

Damn! $375.....you should have done it yourself, not to hard, just need some patience getting the bolts out. Your new starter should be nice and shiny.

99.9% of the time the contacts inside the starter burn out, for less that $20 in parts you can fix it yourself and be on your way......
