Starter Relay Location (solenoid contacts already replaced...)

I have a 1999 Tacoma V6 4wd- so which is the starter relay? Is it the one under the hood labeled 'ST'? I see the fuse for the starter in the interior fuse box...

Thanks!

Mike

Right. But is there not a relay between the solenoid and wherever my key closes the circuit? Or is that it?

i already cleaned up the solenoid/new contacts.

1) Does it click when ign switch is put in Start position?
2) Is there a THICK wire going from it that plugs into the starter solenoid?
If yes to both, then you are correct. If yes ONLY to (2), you are correct but need to troubleshoot.

The starter relay is the relay between your ignition switch ST1 contacts and the solenoid.

The key in start position closes the ST1 contact of your Ignition switch. This energizes the coil of the starter relay. This closes contacts of the starter relay, and sends high-current (approx 12 amps on 2RE) to starter solenoid that is piggy-backed on the starter motor.

i already cleaned up the solenoid/new contacts.
Are you just trying to find things or troubleshooting?

The solenoid is not making any 'click', or closing when I have the no start issue. When the issue is not appearing, the truck starts just fine, turns the motor at a normal speed etc. So, I don't think it's the battery, the starter motor, or the solenoid.

In my engine compartment fuse box, there is a fuse labeled 'ST'. Is this the same as ST1?

Thanks so much for info!

Next time it won't start, grab your multimeter/voltmeter and see what the starter signal wire is putting out. If its not sending more than 10v it won't trigger the solenoid on the starter.
