Hey guys,

I'm considering trading my 93 Toyota pickup SR5 V6 Auto 4x4 for a 92 4x4 DX with a 22re and a 5-speed for mileage issues. It's also got like 30k less miles, less rust, etc.

Are there any options I am losing going from 93 to 92? I know from SR5 to DX I'm foregoing power locks, power windows, and sunroof.

going by memory, in the interior you'll also lose some things like the clock, tach, intermittent wipers, tilt steering, cruise, AC ... pretty much as plain as one can get.

The gearing will prob be 4:10 instead of 4:56 and the stock tire size would be different, and have a smaller gas tank (though with the more efficient engine the range is longer). I believe the transfer case internals will be different but that only matters if you wanna add a crawler. What you'll gain is tons more room in the engine bay.

I had a 92 22re and loved that truck. Did everything I wanted w/o complaint and got me everywhere I tried to go. The motor could use a bit more power (headers & exhaust) but other than that was solid. If I had the opportunity to buy it back from the person I sold it to, I probably would ...

i love my truck so some of them dont come with a tach the dx must be the base model?

you can find 4.56 gears everywhere so it's not too painful to the wallet to swap, just labor(you can often find both front and rear diffs for under $500 for both).

i really wish i had a tilt wheel, A/C and cruise control, but the latter usually end up failing eventually anyhow. and i'm picking up an SR5 gauge cluster tonight for $25 i'll gain a tach, oil pressure gauge, and voltmeter just have to swap out the oil pressure sending unit.

I'm actually not gonna make the swap quite yet. Dad checked out the 92 and apparently it has issues... I'd rather keep my non-issues truck with worse mileage and some rust...

I think I'll hold out for a 94 or 95. Didn't those come with better safety things (other than just the 3rd brake light?)

nope, '89-95 trucks are the same. ABS was available most of those years, never standard though.

The only additional "safety" feature of 94+ is the addition of side impact door beams.
