Sqeaky surpentine belt

Everytime i wash my car or get my car wet, when I start it it would sqeek for a lil bit and go away. As we all know Seattle rains a quite a bit. Now it's starting to make the short, annoying "sqeeks" for a while when i start the rig in the morning and it's fine after it warms up. My rig has about 60k on it. Is it time to replace the belt or is there a way to adjust the tensioner? how much is the belt? is it fairly easy to DIY? Im gonna check the belt for cracks and wears later on today though.

Thanks in advance

Believe it or not, that's exactly what happened to my 4th gen. It was a belt tensioner and put out a TSB on it.
In your case, I'm going to say 1. adjust tension (don't know if that's even possible?) 2. try a little dab of belt dressing 3. replace the belt (belts are cheap...if it's a DIY, could be a simple change)

Good luck!

i get this too. i actually just changed the belt because it used to squeak a lot.. now its doing it because i believe theres something wrong with this belt. gonna change it out to a new one.

belt dressing is a good temporary cure.

Guys, I don't think the sqeak has anything to do with a worn out belt. Mine has pretty much done the same thing since day one. I installed a new belt at 90k and guess what, it's still doing it. I think the problem is that the hood scoop on mine has (and I assume ya'lls as well) some small holes in it for drainage which allows water to in essence leak down on top of the belt/pulley. The service manager at a local dealership is the one who told me about the drains in the scoop. I trust him so I feel pretty confident that is what's causing the sqeak. He said not to worry about it, so I haven't and I've never experienced any problems.

Matt
