Spot Weld SNAPPED
After my last adventure into the wilds of Texas, it would appear that I rough housed my 4runner a bit too much. Upon cleaning up, I noticed I no-longer had my antenna coming out of its hole. After I opened up the wheel well, I discovered the entire motor assembly was resting at the bottom of the fender... After undoing the wiring and pulling it out, it seems the weld snapped that attached the bracket to the body...NOW WHAT? I dont have a welder and I cant very well drive around with the motor loose under there...its cd's only for now...

Umm.. going from memory... a while back my mom's 4Runner antenna motor blew out... instead of replacing it... I just disconnected the motor...
I cant remember but I believe U should be able to remove the antenna from the motor and just keep the wiring in place for the radio...
It won't go up and down like it did... but it'll be functional...

skitz: well the motor ate up the teeth awhile back and thats exactly what i did- disconnected the power. What i am talking about that happened last week was the physical motor assembly itself is now independent of the truck- bracket included- because of a broken weld.

Don't JB weld it, it won't stay!!! Mine did exactly the same thing and I only noticed after it was making a horrible rattling on the highway. What I did to fix it is to remove the passenger kick panel and drill a hole through the body at the spot weld (you can see where the spot weld is attached if you look closely) and through the bracket (again at the spot weld) and then attach it with a nut, bolt and 2 washers (one on either side). Also use loctite or a lock washer to ensure it doesn't vibrate loose again. After this it won't ever be an issue.
