Speedometer/Gas Needle Dimming Problem

Guys,
I'm having a problem with my speedometer and gas needles. Maybe someone else has experienced this. I put in my Speedhut gauges several months back, and everything has worked fine until about a month ago. My speedometer and gas needle will get really dim and stay that way for a while, and then all of a sudden, they'll go back to the normal brightness. I don't know what's going on. If it was a burned out bulb, it wouldn't work at all. Any thoughts or suggestions? Later.

matt,

first thing i'd do is to check your ground. then your positive wire connection.

Well, the needle illumination is totally independent from the Speedhut gauges. The bulbs for the needles and the rest of the bulbs that illuminate the instrument cluster get their power and ground from all of the harnesses that are plugged into the panel. I guess I can pull it out this weekend and check the connections, I just don't see how that could be it. Seems like they wouldn't work at all if there was a loose connection. We'll see.
