spark plugs

HI everyone. I Had a ? about the spark plugs. I have a 2002 v-6 4runner 5vzfe. I was going to change my spark plugs but see that the other side is I am guessing direct ignition ? I was wondering what do I do unscrew the screw then pull out the plugs to put new plugs in? Has anyone haD experience with changing the sparkl plugs for this engine and have any tips since it pretty tight to do any work of changing the spark plugs. Thanks in advance

Its pretty easy to do the plugs. The ignition coils on the passenger side come right out, just remove the screw on the coil (little grey boxes) and the wire harness and they slides right out, the spark plug will be located below. It will be easier to remove part of your air intake (the flexible rubber tubing and intake silencer that connects the airbox to the throttle body) to give you some space to work. You'll need a pretty decent extension (about 12") for your socket to get at a couple plugs on the driver's side (unless you plan on removing the intake manifold).
This would be a good time to clean your throttle body and air intake as well.
Make sure you use antiseize and torque the new plugs down to proper specs.

BTW, if the plugs are being changed for the first time you'll have different plugs on the different banks (NGK on one side, and Denso on the other)--you can use one brand when you replace all 6.

for my older 22r, NGK V-Power as opposed to the regular NGK plugs was specified by toyota as factory replacement... as were ND plugs were also acceptable

I don't, but make sure the key is no where near the ignition!

I forgot to ask I bought factory denso's. Dealer tells me they are pre gapped at and autozone sells them and they say I need to gap them. Which one would be correct?

The OEM Densos do come gapped properly.....
......Autozone may say to gap all plugs to cover their a$$.

Before putting in each plug, check the electrode for damage against another good plug.
Any damage will be very obvious if you hold it next to another plug.
