Spark Plug and Wires Question
So it's time to change the plugs and wires....Im thinking of going with NGK wires and Denso plugs.
From everyones experience, does this seem to be a good option, or does anyone have another suggestion...?

I have had all brands of plug wires pull their ends off EXCEPT one brand Yazaki
They are 53.00 bucks here locally at the Dealership
They also come with all new keepers, they fit PERFECTLY and darn it they look gooood !
I'd rather see a factory set stamped 1985 than a brand new set of just about any other brand.
Second best set are the NGK's

I was thinkin the same thing. You're supposed put a little dab of di-electric grease in the boots so they don't melt and stick to the plug. It also helps give a better spark by insulating the connection and preventing arching against the boot.

Be sure to get the same number plugs as the ones you remove or owners manual says to use. I would think the 3.4 in your truck is the same as our 4runners. I replaced my plugs and wires and when I got the "OEM" plugs from Shucks/O'Reilly's they gave me what their book says is OEM but they were only single ground split electrode "V Power" and were not the same as Toyota put in my truck which are dual grounds. You should be using NGK and the part number is BKR5EKB-11.

I did not get the power that I was expecting and I did have a loss of performance as well as gas milage. I ended up pulling the plugs took them back and they replaced the plugs I should have had to start with and they did charge me the difference. Those plugs will be at least $5 apiece but they are worth it.

True, and since the 3.4s came with Densos on one bank and NGKs on the other (from the factory), both are acceptable as OEM and both are dual electrode. I've found that the Densos usually run about $3.50 while the NGKs run more like $5 like ritzy said. I have NGKs now and I haven't noticed any difference over the Densos I had before this set.

I had NGKs for a few years, they were blue, that's all I noticed about them. The second set of plugs and wires I did I went with OEM everything, the only thing I noticed was they were black. As long as it runs fine, I don't care what color wires I'm running; well, maybe not pink or sparkly purple!

I was speaking about the little metal end ripping off the actual wire. I always use spark plug pliers and aftermarket ones still rip off.
Yet if I wanted to ( and i've done it to prove the point) I can grab the OTHER end of a factory spark plug wire and simply give a nice hard yank. NEVER have I had one fail. They are simply of that high quality.
Also, a factory set of 1985 wires will test out better than every new aftermarket set of wires I've tested. Not to harp but they just really are a million times better.

I've used all different brands of wires and haven't noticed any performance difference with any of them on my stock engines. So, lately I've been using the factory plug wires right from a dealer. I forget the price, but you can search the net for a fair price from a dealer. The biggest advantage: PERFECT FIT without any modifications! Not to mention you get new plastic loom holders, spacers, and wire covers or whatever you call those things. I really like the way the wires look OEM and I don't have to worry about a longer or shorter wire shorting out and arcing with a metal part or another wire.
I also get the plugs from the dealer..I think they're NKG but I forget the number.
