Sounds like pads are gone... but they're new!?
Had toyota do the front pads in early spring 2004, I can't work on my truck in my apt parking area. The receipt did say I needed rotor resurface and bearing repack, but there are no bearing symptoms, or warpage wobble so I figured they wanted to make an extra buck. A month ago they started squeaking intermittently as though the pads were going and I though it was due to rough rotors wearing them much faster. Some light gronding noise too at certain pedal pressure.
Just checked the fronts and rears, all are still almost new. SO.....
What else sounds like worn brake pads... but isn't?

If you are feeeling a grinding then you are probably experienceing what I had happen on my Runner. I replaced the pads and rotors, and a few thousand miles later I felt a grinding (at low speed braking) and heard alot of squeking. After I took everything apart, I found out that my pads were overhanging the inner edge of the rotor. The pad was actually wearing down and causing the overhang to create the grinding and squeeking. Since this was on the inner side of the rotor, you will need to take the calipers and pads off to check it out. I actually had to use a dremel tool to grind out the section that was overhanging.

PS - I don't think it your problem is caused by glazing. If it was, I would tend to think that you would feel a pulsating sensation in your brakes - not a grinding.

Just went to WV and came back with a load of firewood, 8 hrs. Only one instance of squeaking, no pulsating at all. If the overhang is the issue then Toyota owes me the fix, will check...
