Some questions on products?

I've been looking for some items for my 95 4R for a while now, but I can't seem to find them. If anyone knows where I can get ahold of these parts, PLEASE let me know.

As of what I can think of right now, I'm looking for:
  • 3.0 v6 Super/Turbo Charger
  • New headers
  • Cold Air Intake
  • Euro Tails
  • Billet Grille
  • The bolt pattern for rims
  • Borla Exhaust (where and what kind?)

I'm sure there are more things, but I'm really tired right now so I can't think. I will probably be updating this list frequently and from time to time.

please, if you know anything, Let Me Know!

thanks
kyle

As for power everyone is looking at different swaps. Pretty soon all the 2nd gens will be 10 yrs old and the idea of spending 3 grand on the same slug of an engine doesn't sound appetizing.

There are only a few guys who have done them so far. Most popular is the 3.4 from a 3rd gen - its the same family as our 3.0 so you only need a body lift and to move the exhaust over to the opposite side of the engine. Of course you'll need the correct computer and engine harness. I'll find a link for you if you would like to see one that is running around in British Columbia.

Another popular one is the 7MGTE from a Supra. It's an inline 6 - 3 litres in displacement. Its more work but has a lot of power and there are a few of them out there also.

The swap that interests me is the 3L or 5L diesels. The 3L is 2.8 litres 4 cyl and the 5L is a 3 litre 4 cyl. Lots of torque and fuel mileage close to 30 MPG. These would be a pretty easy swap in as they use the same engine mounts and bolt right up to the tranny.

You can find a billet grille at jbm
They also do not make euro tails for the 2nd gen 4runner. They do make clear tails but I' not sure where you can find a pair anymore. Clearlights.com is taking preorders for altezza tails and Jason B. says that he will get some end later on this year.

engine swaps are best for toyota manual trannys, if you have an auto, the work will be more intensive.

you should be able to find a used engine and have it swapped for about $2-$3G, the price of a TRD supercharger installed.

yes, 15x8 is most common, 15x7 is stock, but the 8" will make your tires stick out a lil more.

Apparently there is a supercharger for the 3.0 but why waste the money.

I remember there was talk on the ODW forum, that there was a supercharger available.

I think there was some confusion about that. The supercharger is for the DOHC 3.0 used in Toyota cars and minvans. It is not compatible with the 3vze, and even if it was, you wouldn't want to use it. The head gaskets blow without help from boost already.....

There is a guy on PBB with a turbocharged 3.0. It was a custom job, though. I don't think he's blown anything yet, he might just be lucky though. I don't think the 3.0 is a very good choice for forced induction.

There was a thread over on odw and someone found one and i say "apparently". Is it worth it? I doubt that with the head gaskets in these engines that it would be a good idea.

4runner4lyfe- I would, and this is just me, swap in a 3.4. Then if that wasn't enough, yes you could supercharge that engine. There is some info about the swap at www.bc4x4.com . Lookin the toyota section and you'll find some stuff there.

IMHO

yeah downey makes headers. I've heard that they are a better fit than the NWOR ones. I don't know from experience, only from reading the posts here and at outdoor wire. Can't hurt to read as much as possible and then decide.

Good luck and let us know what you decide and why

Steve
