Some may really hate me muahaha

So this lady at end of my street decided to put her husbands 2002 tacoma xtra cab sr5 Trd for sale! I guess he passed away recently but the truck is pretty MINT. On the phone she told me it has 33000 miles and bought the truck brand new :o upon inspection I noticed the oil change sticker says 83k hmm? Either way she is asking 10k And I want want !

The only concern is some rusty suspension parts :o also the frame seems decently coated however not good enough so there is some rust. That bothers me.

What r the maintaince intervals for something like this? Timing belt etc?

Wink

Used vehicles tend to have different prices in different regions .

Then how much you think you need this Truck always help to raise the price.

pass? really? man, 10k is a steal on one of those around here, if it's clean and without anything to fix. even with 100k on it or so.

they're $12k-$15k around here, and they don't last long if they're in a good shape, low miles, and priced under 14.

I bought my 02 TRD X-Cab 5 speed with the 3.4L and 112K for $8K. It kelly blue booked for 12K. I'd say 10K is a steal!

Timing belt should be done at either 90K or 100K IIRC.

Just saw this, today......

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst...060330938.html

does depend on the region, and I've seen even better deals than this(he's ASKING high, but I guarantee you he'd come down)..... Those better deals I mentioned?.... >>>> last around 5 minutes on CL! lol. My buddy lives back east, bought 3 Toy 4WD's now in the last 12 years,.... ALWAYS comes out here to L.A. to get the competitive bargain and drives em back to VA.... Seeing this lady stomp on it by your house every day.... Kinda scary, lol.

Paid $5800 for my 98 TRD xtra-cab with 86,000 miles. It needed new tires and a new third member. If the truck doesn't need any major work, go for it.

Instead of all the muahaha's, I think pictures are in order. If is has 33,000 on the clock then its a muahaha, if its got 83,000 on it then its not a muahaha. You said the oil change sticker said 83K did you look at the speedo? Make her an offer.

Took her for a spin today ! I like it ! It has exactly 80000 miles and she is not coming off her asking price at all. I see it needing tires in the next few thousand miles but other than that seems really solid.

I guess the Toyota dealership she bought the truck from offered her a 8500 check and she refused. I think I can get her to come down to 9 considering the timing belt should replaced

I called Toyota today and found out the frame was "coated" at 70000 miles. However it doesn't seem to be holding up to great. The 3.4 v6 is a interference motors so If the belt breaks it bends valves ?

A little surface rust isn't going to kill you. Just how rusty is the frame?

And yes it is an interference motor so if the belt goes you may potentially have catastrophic engine failure or nothing bad could happen. Either way get that belt changed ASAP.

I live in CT so I know the frame will be the first to go on a truck like this. I had 1985 rot box and that truck made me hate rust with a passion !

the 3.4L is a non-interference motor. My water pump seized and the belt jumped some teeth on the right hand cam - no damage. That's not the greatest example, but it's non-interference anyway. Timing belts are a great way to give you heartburn, but they last a very long time. I just changed one on my dad's TL that had 186k on it (interference engine for sure). My 4Runner's first (at 125K) looked great, just shiny. Replace it, but don't lie awake at night over it.
