soaked carpet on driverside front after rain

I am just curious as to where the weep holes for the sunroof drain... I've noticed a foul smell in my truck the past few weeks or so after a rain storm but never looked into it. Today I did and found that under my driverside front floor mad was a good size amount of water. I'm headed out now to pull the carpet up but wondered if anyone else has had this happen?

I think I may have solved my own problem... when I pulled the carpet up, I noticed the black stopper on the floorboard wasn't seated properly... It still seems like an awful lot water to have come in from that location. Oh well, I'll just let it dry and find out the next time it rains.

I also poured some water down the sunroof weep holes... it all flowed fine through the body panels - no inside drippage from that.

Have you been through any flooded areas recently or parked somewhere that might flood during heavy rain. The reason I said this is that last night we had a 4 inches of rain that caused a good bit of flooding in my neighborhood and I noticed that where I had parked my pickup the water had come up to the rim. If I had parked it closer to the ditch like I normally do then the water might have come up to the door. Just a thought.

No flooding thank goodness... I'm hoping I found the problem cause I really hate taking those seats in and out.

Anyway, I have to say that the floor padding really smells when wet!!!

the rubber things are basically there to drain the car out if it gets flooded. I have an 86 runner...and it has around 10-12 o them throughout the truck. Pull up the carpet and youll see them. They are like 2 inches wide.
Noodle, i dont think this would be the problem in youre case though.

It turned out to be the grommet that the electrical runs through... I siliconed it up and have no problem now.

Heh. I had this exact problem, except mine flooded to the rear also! The car stereo place didn't plug the grommet after running the wire for my alarm siren. I drove it for a week before I knew it was their fault. They replaced the padding, and cleaned the carpet. I still have that smell sometimes.

My suggestion: Take that carpet out and let it dry in the sun/inside!!

I had the same problem with my '85. Leaked for months! I couldn't find it! I even pulled all the windshield trim to see if the w/s needed resealed. Eventually found it was a wiring grommet in the air intake plenum. You guys are lucky to have found it quicker...
