So Much For The Factory Alarm....

Went to see a few buddies this weekend and parked my car in their apartment lot Friday night. Came back to the truck Saturday morning and it was not a pretty sight. Rear Driver's side window bashed in, truck full of water since it had been pouring all night long. Got my 2 JL 12s stolen, along with my amp, CD player, mag lite, back pack, TI-83 calculator, textbooks, and prescription reading glasses. Besides the window being busted the center dash where the CD player was is completed ripped out, clock, etc button, etc. all laying on the floorboard. Pissed doesn't even begin to describe it!!
Time to start the road to getting everything put back together....gonna get the window and dash squared away first and then hoping for insurance to replace the sound system. We'll see what happens...

dang, that does suck. good luck getting stuff back together.

you gonna upgrade to some fancy aftermarket security system?
i've thought about it, but figured the factory one is good enough (you know, "if someone wants in they'll find a way" mentality) maybe not tho.

My first gen got broken into a number of times. I think just about every time, it was raining.

The cops could never fingerprint because of all the water.

I wonder if theives know to do it when its raining because of this?

raining should effect fingerprints too much, fingerprints are oil based

Oh and screw the factory alarm.

just today my 電電ing factory alarm went off for like 10 minutes. I couldnt get the thing to turn off. GRRR

Im sorry to hear about it though. Sounds like they got a lot of stuff.

Just good thing you werent hurt... Here's another story :

For about a month, I didn't have house. I slept in the 4runner at my buddies apartment building complex. One night, just about when I was falling asleep, I hear two voices outside. Next thing I know I hear them whispering and I hear something trying to get into the passenger side door. Im like holy 電電! I start shaking back and fourth and it was so funny because they just yelled "電電!" and ran off so fast. I decided to drive some where else nad sleep that night. heh...

Who knows, maybe they were just lazy?

most of the time officers can look and see that the fingerprints are no good. And also, it takes time for labs to process it, and more than likely, they are working on something more serious than a car theft ie: rapes, murders, etc.

Id have a system, just an aftermarket alarm with a loud horns. Also get a back up battery incase they snip the one under the hood. If you really want to get paranoid, get a hoodswitch and a proximity sensor

The cop told me that because of the rain he probably wouldn't be able to get any good prints...unless he was just being lazy and didn't want to.
I'm not really sure what I'm going to do about a new system or aftermarket alarm. The guys who are really good can probably get around about anything, so I don't know if its worth it to spend a bunch of $$ on a new alarm. And with the system it would probably be smart not to get another one, but if the insurance company comes through then I might look into getting some new stuff. Next time I'll be sure to take off the CD faceplate and pull the cargo cover in the trunk.

I'm really sorry for your loss....but it is nothing compared to mine. My car was stolen and when I got it back there was noting left. They took my rims, bumber, bumber gaurds, windshield wipers, seat covers, floor mats, shifter knobs, shifter boot, speakers, amp, sub, carpet, intake, battery, head rests, alarm, jack, and all my personal belongings in the car. I had just recently put about 6 grand in it before this happend. But anyway, I just got a new 4runner and was looking for a security system. If anybody has any suggestions I would be glad to hear um. THX
