So, how fast is the supercharged 3.4?

So, how fast is the supercharged 3.4?
I'm looking at buying a newer 3.4 and adding the supercharger to it. I know it's fast, but how fast? I'm not talking top speeds, but 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times, stuff like that. Also, how I couldn't find any dyno results, and I was wondering what the horsepower and tourqe to the ground was. I'm also just talking about a bone stock 3.4 with the s/c on it.

The initial testing that TRD advertises was on a T-100 and peak HP was 265 at the crank. It has since been found that 250 is more realistic. The 1st gen superchargers are not as successful as the 2nd gen's, adding only around 30-40hp. The only 4wd 0-60 I have ever seen run was an 02 double cab and it ran 8.1 seconds. An S-Runner (2wd V-6) was blown, had trd exhaust and a couple of other extras and ran a 0-60 of 6.1, in a comparison between a Lighting, the supercharged yota, and a 5.9L R/T 2wd dakota. Hopefully someone else will chime in to give you some more info.

I drive mine at altitude, and it's fast enough. Haven't taken it out to the track for 1/4 mile times & dyno, but it does smooth out the power curve in the mid range (2000-3000 rpm) and give it the missing muscle when merging & going up the mountains. At sea level, there is more power due to the denser air, and I can break the wheels free. I'm also running bone stock with the SC and haven't had any fuel starvation issues or pinging, and don'thave any plans to change that either.

I was wondering what the hp to the wheels were. But thanks for all the info. My truck isn't cutting it any more driving from home to bozeman. It's exactly 700 miles one way. Along with the fact that the 3.0 isn't cutting it, especially turning 33's at 5000 feet. I figure a nice tacoma would do well driving back and forth, the supercharger will help at that elevation as well. We'll see though, I know it won't be till summer when I sell my truck.

You're right on all counts with the power issue. Just get ready for the additional bite in your wallet for the premium gas.

I'm not good with the technical stuff...but I have used a stopwatch to time the 0-60 with my supercharged 4runner. Granted I have an exhaust and air filter as well, it's obviously the charger doing most of the pulling.
My 0-60 time, with one person sitting shotgun with the stopwatch, was just over 7 seconds both times. Pretty damn fast.
It runs around at high elevations with plenty of power to spare.
Oh, one thing though, about towing...the charger definitely helps, but still wouldn't pull the boat over a mountain pass. I haven't tried it, nor will I. It lugs pretty hard at 60 mph on level ground (granted the boat ways 4000 pounds).

These are the times I got from my 03 V8 2wd S/C runner
Times, also I dyno a couple of times and am pulling 380 ponies
0-60mph - 5.6 sec
1/4 mi - 11.5
I did this with a buddy of mine, he timed me while I drove, so its more of an estimated.

Well, I can tell you one thing, there is no way that your truck is running a 11.5 sec 1/4 mile. You would have to be putting over 500hp to the ground to do that in that heavy of a truck. My Supra was putting that to the ground and it would only run around a 12.0 with tire spin. Just some food for thought.
Also, were you putting 380hp to the ground or was that the estimated crank hp?

I just found some quarter mile times on a few exotics (granted I don't know how trustworthy they are, but . The McLaren F1, with over 620 horsepower, posts a 1/4 mile time of 11.1 seconds, at 138 mph.
A 1997 Porsche 911 GT1, 11.6 seconds, 134 mph.
I'd love to see a 380 horsepower 4runner post an 11.5.
Travis, It's my dream boat too. I just bought it about a month ago and am waiting ever-so (un)patiently for the weather to finally let up in the Northwest... as soon as it does, you won't see me posting too much on here!

Man you must love to tell big fish stories!
My 500 HP Camaro with NOS barely got into the high 10's low 11's
There is no way you could get 11.5 at a dragstrip in your 4runner.

Where was this 1/4 test run performed at? Stock 4Runner with S/C?
Edit- that is faster than the 2005 Ford GT that puts out 500 HP with a S/C and it pulled a 12.2 at 123 mph 1/4 mile.

I think he forgot to mention the angle of the strip...it was 45 degrees going down, minor lack of information.
I'm just messin with ya man...but I seriously doubt that it was 11.5, my buddies Supra with NOS didn't even get that low of a time!

whats that mean?
Sure you said its an estimate but it would be a shame if you kept telling everyone this thinking it was even close to the actual time.
bottom line is theres no way you are goin that fast. so were tryin to help you out here so you dont look like an ass to others.
dont take it the wrong way. youre just about 2 seconds off. I hope youre quarter mile run wasnt from a highway sign that said the exit was 1/4 mile away. hehe

It means I did a couple of runs and those are the numbers that I got. I'll admit I'm not an expert, and I don't have any racing experience so I'm just going with the times I got.
