which skid plate? the normal block actual skid plate will bolt up, same exact thing on runners and tacos.
i am not sure on the pos aluminum "skid plate" that has no real value or worth.

i sorta did the upgrade .... (really like was mentioned its not much of an upgrade since it is thin aluminum) what i did do was buy one, modify the brackets to fit and then since i don't plan on a full bumper upgrade anytime soon (famous last words i'm sure), i am actually having a very similar piece cut out of 3/16ths steel. that way it will be able to protect the bumper as well as look "cool"

Is there anyway in the near future you can snap some pics of what you have installed with the modified brackets and the final product? I know thats asking a lot, but you've done exactly what I want to do.
And yes, it is purely for looks, but some dang good looks if you ask me.

that's the beginning of my extension .... i guess i don't have any shots of the final bracket, and they are currently off waiting for cad drawings to be done, along w/ the original plate.
if you want the original toyota piece and aren't in a huge hurry, mine will be up for sale when the new steel version is done.

i thought about going that route, but one i'm lazy, and two i want to see if we can actually make this a use full mod. I figured out a couple weeks back when i tipped on to 3 wheels coming off some rocks that i need a bit more armor. The whole reason i tipped was that i tried what was basically a bad line because i was afraid of damaging the truck w/ too steep of a drop off..... so bit of front end protection, and some rock sliders in the future, and maybe some better under the truck, then we'll see.

X-AWDriver,
Need a big favor, I just purchased a Tac skid plate and whip antenna for my 00 sports ed. On your extension plate -- I would really appreciate it if you got me the measurement between the rear hole (that mounts to the body) and the front hole (where the nut is welded) taken from the center of each hole (or on-center measurements).
I did a lot of searching but haven't found the answer.
So did you use a 1/8 or 3/16 plate? And is it 2.5" wide?
You should probably have a sticky for this since I've seen you answer this question over and over again. Then just add the information that you are giving me to complete the DIY guide.
Thanks in advance!
