Silverstars

Today my low beam side of one of my Silverstars burned out but this is after running them all the time or at least anytime I started my truck until I got out and closed the door. Almost 3 years to the day ! The old rumors about how they burn out way to fast was not true in my case and I will be buying a new set and keep the good one for a spare.
In all honesty I never had any problem with the stock lights being bright enough but the Silverstars are an improvement and the Silverstars along with my two 500 W Hellas really light up the woods! Mike

Glad to hear you had good luck.. I ran them for almost a year in that time I replaced 4.... won't run them again. Glad to see they worked out for you... they are definitely brighter than stock..

I've had mine for about 18 months. I don't drive my 4Runner all that much however, but the lights work great and are hella bright.

You are not alone in your complaint but it makes me wonder if something is different in the wireing of these vehicles. Some people have run them for years like me and others like you could not keep them long at all. Mike

rearviewmirror, Hope you have as good of luck with them as I have. Going to replace mine with the same in a week or two. I'm a bit short on money this month. Mike

Mine are well over two years old but they aren't always on and I never start the truck with them in the on position since the current surge has been known to blow out the lights and I just never wanted to take a chance.

More than a couple years on them is rare and some are in that minority but if you choose Silverstars I recommend using them in non-DRL vehicles and never start your truck with them on will help insure longer life.

I'll be trying Ultrastars next.

All I can tell is that my 2001 has the option of having the lights come on as soon as you turn the key on and they don't go off unless you open the door. I run like that and never change it. We have some really dark spots around here even during the day on these mountain roads so I just leave them on. They still lasted all this time. As mentioned above this may not be the norm for these bulbs but I feel they have taken a bad rap from some over there longevity. It just makes me wonder if it's the bulbs or the wiring as I mentioned above. Guess we should have taken a poll!
Now watch what happens..... I'll buy a new set and they will last me a week,Lol. Just my luck, Mike

I've been thinking about getting some. But I think I want to unplug my DRL's prior.
