Silverstar problems

What is the average life span any of you have experienced with the silverstars? Mine only lasted 6 months, normal use. So I called the 800# and explained what was going on and asked the very nice gentelman (no sarcasm here) what the life expectancy on the bulbs were? He told me they typically only last 1 year!!!!! I don't know about you guy's but that is unexceptable!! Especialy for a sealed beam unit! I was very nice to him because he was being nice to me so I did not vent my anger at all. Now you know why there is no warranty info on the box. I had a set of the Wagner "Bright Lights" that lasted 4 years. He did tell me that I could send either the headlight or receipt to them, with a note as to the problem and they would send me replacement lights.
Hold on to your receipts, boxes, and burned out bulbs. Just in case.

I've ran silverstar's in my 96, but those lights aren't a sealed unit, I replaced my first set of bulbs in 10 months, but I run my lights a little more than most people. I picked up a second set about 3 months ago and they're still running fine, althought truth be told I wouldn't put it past Sylvania lighting to find a good way to screw the working man over...bum deal man.

There are previous posts regarding this. About 1 year is correct and, of course, is dependent on the hours/day you're running on low beams. Additionally, those of us that have DRL's eat into the life a bit more. I typically drive 4-6 months of the year to and from work in the dark (1 hour each way) and have had to replace mine after about 13 months. The lamps I have now have about 7 months on them. I prefer them over other lamps and am willing to pay $35/year if need be.

They have H4, H7, H11, etc, etc...

they are brighter than any bulbs I've ever used.

That is great advice for the bulbs, but mine are sealed beams. So you don't have to worry about touching the glass. The good thing is they are going to replace them for me. If these next sets happen to go out to soon I will switch back to the Wagners.
