Silver coated amber bulbs?

I am looking for a 7440 bulb that looks clear or silver in my clear bumper lights, but that flashes amber. I have tried LED and they are not bright enough for my tastes and they caused blinking problems. I also do not want to paint the bulb...I am not very artistic.

Anyone know where I can find these on the net? Links appreciated.

Pick up some silver metallic spray paint and spray a couple of light coats on the amber bulb. When it lights up you can't tell the difference. I did this with the bulbs in my clear bumper turn lenses and my 2001 tailllights and they look great.

It's either Raybrig or PIAA that makes them and I've seen them here, but I went back to purchase them and couldn't find them again. Not sure if they are there now or not... and it's possible that I'm just too retarded to find them simply because I was actually looking for them the second time. Anyway, they are out there somewhere and I'm sure you can find them if you look hard enough.

Would you guys recommend doing that technique to a red bulb for my all clear tailight lenses or should I just get the red LEDs?

I would go with the LED's if I were you. The red bulb's paint burns off real quick and makes your lights look pink and ugly.

i had the problem of my red bulbs going pink in my clear taillights, lasted for about a month before pink started to show. But there is a new filiment bulb out that does not fade. I have had them in my tails for about 4 months and there are still as red as the day I bought them.

When I tried to use the LEDs in my tails I ended up burning out the brake fuse under the hood all the time...

Where would I be able to get this new bulb?
