Silly question (plastic + muffler)

A plastic bag got stuck to my muffler as I was driving. I realized this when I smelled melting plastic as I got out of the truck and looked under. Most of the bag got stuck to the muffler pretty good. I managed to scrape some of it off with a plastic putty knife, but enough of it is still under to produce that nasty smell once muffler heats up.
Any ideas on how to get the rest of the plastic off?
TIA

ot a clue, I'm sorry man , that has got to suck to have to smell that nasty stuff every time you go to drive your truck. Hopefully someone will answer soon, I would like to know how that comes out, just in case that ever happens to me. Good Luck.

Eventually the smelly stuff will burn away I would think. But you will always have some residue left behind. Maybe take some hot water and an abrasive cleaner like Comet or that GOJO hand cleaner stuff to it and scrub like hell with a brillo pad.

... Or take this as an opprotunity to upgrade the exhaust.

Steel brush and patience. Let the rest burn.

burnt bags

drive till the exhaust is hot and use a metal putty knife and scrape the hot goop off. or use a torch to heat it!
