signal and hazards dont work.

Well after i finished installing my electric fan with hit and miss sucess it's finally working properly. But in return my turn signals and hazards dont work. As far as what ive done prior to this wierd problem. Was install the fan. Ran a wire through the firewall through the rubber grommet hole through the driver side. Had the wire for the fan tapped onto the acc line behind my stereo. Thats pretty it. I took a quick peek at the fuses and they seem fine but i guess it doesnt hurt to take another look. Anyone have any more suggestions? relays?,fuses?, frayed wires?, loose connections? im lost.

be 100% sure that it's not a fuse. nothing worse than troubleshooing for hours and hours only to find that the solution was the easiest and most obvious one to begin with.

They're saying the most obvious is a fuse being blown...my guess would be that you have a short somewhere in there...and it could be a huge pain in the behind to hunt down. So, I mean there isn't really much to say other than to check the stuff around where you routed the wire. In addition, if you unhook the fan does that affect the operation of your other things?

Fuses look good. My neighbor said it has to be the relays inside the dash area? Could he be right?

i guess it would have to be a relay... you have to have the relay to open and close the circuit to cause it to blink

Just for kicks, try disconnecting the power lines (the ACC line and the constant 12v) to the fans and see if the lights start working... Just pull the spade lugs at the controller box, that''l be easier than trying to get back under the dash.

Past that, check the flasher itself which I think is sitting up behind the fuse block inside. It's a little module that pulls out.

I'll throw out a guess did you connect the hazzard light button when you put the dash back in? That could be the cause.

I unhooked the controller box and that doesnt seem to make the hazards work nor headlights work but my actual acc line is hooked up to a relay Ill try disconnecting them all together tmrw morning and see what happens.

interior lights work headlights work backup lights works. It's pretty much those 2 damn things the signals and hazards.

Is this a brain fart , or do you mean that when you unhooked the controller box that the headlights stopped working?

My wondering about the signal box is if you've got a weird load on the wrong part of the electrical system and there's not enough current flow through the flasher to blink the lights. So if you DO mean that the headlights stopped working after disconnecting the controller, then something's drawing a lot of current.

Did you get a chance to check the flasher unit itself?

I'd like to add i also kinda hosed down the entire engine bay becuase i was being stupid and mad cuz i opened the rady cap right after i drove around and well the radiator was acting like a volcanoe for about 15 secs. So i got the hose just to hose down all the rady residue off the engine compartment. But i doubt it would cause any problems I mean i did give it time to dry.

I'm not sure but one day while i was driving inside the cabin I smelled a very mild burning electric smell. I wasnt sure if that was something outside or inside the cab it seems pretty wierd i ask.
