Should I get these rims for my 4runner also need tire recommendations!!

I have a black 2003 4runner. I want theseAmerican Racing Piranha 18" Chrome I can get them for 1200 total. Then I need a set of tries for my 4runner, mostly for the road with good traction in the rain and snow. I want something close to the standard 265/65 tire size. I was thinking of getting a set of the pirelli Scorpian Zero's. There 189 at my local dealer. I might be able to get them for alittle less.

Whats the biggest tire i could get if i wanted to??
Whats a good size to get?
Maybe something with a thin wall? but is there a draw back to this?

Chris

Is there any other rims you would want other than that? Do you 18's or 20's more?

Those look close to the 18" rims I have on mine, except mine have a brushed finish. I have Kuhmo tires on them, it rides great.

It's a new model, might have a funny offset. There really isn't that much of a demand for larger rims on the 4Runner, with good reason, I think. I toyed with making my 4Runner a street machine, but face it, if you wanted something for the street you should have gotten an Escalade or seomthing.

I think there is good reason to put a 4runner on 18's. First of all it looks good. Secondly putting larger wheels on a 4runner doesn't mean it cant ever go offroad again. Im going to put 18s on mine with an equvilant of 33's on them after i get a lift. I will keep my stock wheels with 285's for winter/snow/off-road. This probably isnt the best idea for someone who drives offroad more than once a month but it fits my schedual perfectly.

BTW I like those wheels.

I agree with ssbogger.....Not that I wouldn't have been able to do this on smaller rims, but it was more stable on 18" wheels and Kuhmo performance street tires. Saturday I went out on the track at Talladega Superspeedway. Having the speed rated tires made a huge difference. I did two laps at about 100 mph. I could have gone a lot faster but since I was in a SUV ( and I have done it in a Winston Cup car anyway) I didn't really see the need. There was a guy out there in a second generation 4Runner with some BFG All Terrains and he said his was very unstable at 80.

I love my 4Runner and know they are aff-road capable and proven, but mine will never see more than a dirt road. I use it for escorting people and want to keep it as showroom as I can.....I know that will make some of your stomachs turn to hear, but I bet mine is cleaner than yours....

well if i can find a 20" i like that will fit im getting a 20" but i need to first see my choices. do you think a 295/45/20 will fit on my 03 4runner

http://www.performancewheelco.com/tools.htm

according to that site the tires should be the close to the same size as my factory 265/65/17. But im not sure if im reading it correctly.

someone give me there interpertation

http://www.sgmotorsports.com/tiresize.htm
the only difference in the tire size i can see is the width of the tire is 1.18 wider. do you think it will fit?

Chris

well after all the descion making and talking to many people that dont know anything. The american racing piranhas in 20" will fit, took american racing over 2 weeks to respond to an email. My local ganin tire told me they didnt fit, then i found out why he probably said that, cause there on back order. The people at the place are as stupid as ˟˟˟˟˟, my dad brought his yukon to get a flat fixed and they ripped the chrome off half of his wheel. They put this 14 year old kid on who didnt know what he was doing. After my father requested that he didnt do it. So stay away from ganin tire on flatbush ave.

Well anyway Im getting the american racing piranha 20" chrome with some toyo proxe s/t 265/50/20. Im going to leave a deposit on thursday. Should have them within 3 weeks. I cant wait. thanks for everyone opinions Chris
