Shocks For Downey Springs

Hey Everyone, Im going to be buying the Downey HD 1.5 rear springs for my 94 4runner. Are the longer shocks a requirement or do they just allow for more wheel travel? Also, should I get the shocks from Downey or can they befound cheaper somewhere else. What shocks do u guys recommend? I
dont want the ride to be too stiff if possible.
Thanks for all the useful information on this board!

Bilsteins form ProAm in Houston, TX. Cheapest I have found online. I have them and am very happy with them. They will handle up to a 3" lift so no worries there. BTW get your springs from Central4wd for the cheapest price.

I was there before........
I had RS9017. I used it with the 3" lift which you'll go next when you want 33's.
I think Downey recomend RS9187 which is 1.5" longer than stock.

Hey ted, Thanks for the info. Do either one of those places have websites? Downey just gave me a price of 170.00 for the springs only. I can probably save on shipping cause I live 20 minute from them, but if I can get them cheaper somewhere else, that would be great. Also is there a part number on the Bilsteins? Thanks Ray blurpps@msn.com

maybe call downey and ask? (562)949-9494. The catalog does not list the shocks for use with the 3" lift

skip the 5 series of Rancho. it's rough. The 9 series which has like 9 setting now... is adjustable. I used #3.
I looked it up in the old catalog for that RS9187 number. I ran that with 1.5" coil only then went to 9017 when I went to 3" rear.
See if you can get the pan hard rod extension with the coil. My d-shaft was rubbing the gas tank with the coil only.

So you're 20 min. away from them? which way? I live in Torrance and went down there about a month ago. One of the guys at the counter knows me. I have the red 4runner with their cable coversion elocker kit. ....and SAS.

Rear Shocks
These will work on anything up to a 3" lift. They are developing ones for a 4" and up lift soon. For now they only have the front ones for that kind of lift.

Rear Coils
Check fo shipping costs, but I imagine you will get it for the same cost shipped to your door from these guys as you would picking them up from Downey. They are the exact same product, Central4WD just sells them wholesale.

You live in Torrance? I'm surprised I haven't seen your Runner around...I'm always looking for modded 4Runners around here. Whereabouts in Torrance do you live? I'm over near west high.
