Shackles and TJM??
I've been thinking about shackle installation ideas on my TJM front bumper. I'm concerned about using the existing holes on the TJM without strengthening that area. I'm imagining snatching a 5,000 lb 4Runner out of the mud with too weak of a mount.
What have you done, or are planning for yours? Looks like we could utilize the existing holes after beefing that area up somehow, or get some shackle blocks and install where the tow hook is on both sides.
I've done a search and read most of what people have said up until now but with all the new bumpers being installed I thought there might be some fresh new ideas.

I had some really simple "L" brackets made up, and used the existing holes of the TJM mounting points. Then on the L bracket there is a traingle piece welded on to it, with the a hole in the center for the shackle to bolt through. When I get home tonight, I can post some pics, if you don't understand, unless someone else posts up theirs.

Pop on a couple of Warn shackles and you're good to go. Solid as a rock.

Thanks guys, as usual lots of advice. I may decide to save $150, install a 2nd tow hook on the driver's side and a receiver setup for the rear and call it good. Probably would work as well as the shackles but not as cool looking.
Appreciate the help.
