setting up a road tripper
so i am pretty new to this whole four wheeling thing at this point. my experience is limited to my subaru. but i eventually want to build up a 4x4. I don't really know what are good products out there and aren't. I know there are alot of gearheads out there, so if anyone wants to offer some advice on brands and types of gear for a future tacoma, i would really appreciate it. anything you got on bumpers, winches, wheels, suspension, lifts, etc, as well as basics like, what is the diff between a body lift and a suspension lift, or a locking vs a slip differential, advantages/disadvantages. oh yeah, and how about good high top truck shells
thanks
thanks

your questions are very vague. There is no year or baody of the Taco.
The search button is very useful. There is a plethora of information on every question.

welcome. good questions, and this is why yotatech was created.
alot of these questions have everything to do with "what are your goals?" for instance, what % of the time will you take it off road? and what % of that off road time will be on fire trails vs rock crawling? and what kind of budget do you have to do all of this?
so if you can define your goals more clearly, it will be a lot easier for us to help you with suggestions.
now don't expect to be here, so you'll have to do some reading and come back with some questions:
suspension FAQ: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f31/suspension-lift-faq-44741/
Locker FAQ: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f31/locker-faq-43572/
of all the "trekking" type tacomas out there, chris (bajataco) has one of the best outfitted tacomas out there. check his website out at www.bajataco.com. or if you like a built up, SAS'd tacoma, check out rob's tacoma at www.watrd.com

hey thanks alot for the feedback, i'll do some more reading up on stuff, and search, and try to come up with some less vague q's. my intention would be to have a 2000-2005 taco, and it would be mostly dirt road, but i want the capability to be able to handle whatever comes at me. I'm not talking about working my way up a near vertical 5 foot face or anything, but i'm gonna need to get over stuff thats gonna require a lift on a truck thats gonna be pretty well loaded with gear. anyways, gracias
