Question Selling Truck, how much to ask?

I'm selling the truck but I'm not sure what would be a fair price and figured ya'll here could give me a good idea on what would be a fair price. I'll be honest about it and I'd like to hear what you have to say.

1989 Truck DLX, ExtraCab, 4x4, 3.0 V6, 5spd
CD player, A/C

Body/Interior:
White w/Gray interior
Paint is still good w/only 3 potential rust spots that I've sanded/waxed, waxed the whole truck and paint is smooth
Interior is in great shape with the exception of a torn drivers seat (where you get out)
Blau. CD player with new Blau. 4" speakers in the dash

Engine/Drivetrain
288k miles, runs good but not great, gets 15-18MPG
Starter sometimes clicks instead of engaging (hard to fix?)
Small oil leak, couple of drops a day, haven't found out from where yet...
Tranny shifts good, clutch works great, 4x4 works good
P/S has a small leak as well, origin unknown
Has 4.56 gears with a Lockrite locker in the rear

Chassis/Steering
Front end is tight
2" Body lift
Add-a-leaf in rear to cure sagging
Could use new shocks
Doesn't wear tires, drives straight
Stock Alum. Yota wheels with 32's that are about 15-20% tread

The truck is the one pictured in my avatar.

That's about all I can think of off the top of my head... I've had it in the paper for about a week and I get lots of calls, but when they hear about the miles they aren't interested. Anyway, I'm open to suggestions...especially if anyone has a lead on the starter problem. I recently checked/cleaned the cables so I think it has something to do with the starter its self.

Anyway, thanks in advance,
Andrew

I'm in the same boat here. Since I've posted my 4Runner for sale I've noticed (w/223k mi. on it) that the high mileage really scares people off. First time I put it in the paper, I didn't include the mileage and same thing would happen. People would ask about the mileage than say "no thanks" after hearing the mileage. Now I always include the mileage in any ads. Only thing I could suggest is to tell the people you realize the mileage is high, but that the price you are asking reflects that.

Good luck selling your truck. To get a realistic asking price, compare prices of similar trucks advertised for sale in your area. Also, check KBB.com.

The other problem you have to contend with is that the economy stinks and because of that people are watching how they spend each dollar really closely. You'll notice people are really looking for that one "killer" deal.

i think bluebook's offer on a typical '90 or so was around 1800 for the 4 banger standard cab. i took a look around here, and found that most of the trucks in that category were twice that!
