As the title describes it, when I set my alarm on my 98 Tacoma, it locks door and everything, it chirps and the lights come on for about 20 sec.

all of a sudden about 15-20 minutes, it will start making noises as if its been messed with, but it has not been at all touched or anything, it will do it just about anywhere and almost always.

So I was wondering if anyone has gone through this same scenario, and what has been the fix?

could it be a short in one of the locking mechanisms, the hood switch?

Any help would be appreciated.

had an issue similar on an old acura legend I had. It had an aftermarket alarm though. The key became so worn that it unlocked the vehicle and started it, but would not turn the alarm off. I had to cut the wires for the horn or else everytime I unlocked my car the alarm would sound and it was loud. Furthermore, the lights flashed for about 10 minutes as well even though I had unlocked and started the car. I drove with the headlights on, until I had the alarm system permanently removed.
