I am looking for seats, new or used for my 1st gen 4runner. I am looking for the front seats. And, of course, the passenger seat needs to slide forward.
Anyone know of a good place to find a good deal on seats? I also want to know if I can modify other seats to fit in my truck.

Plus, is there anyone that makes seat covers for the back split seats in the 1st gen 4runners?

Check out your local junkyard. I got mine from a junk yard for $50 for both. That's your best bet.

celica seats are a direct bolt-in on some models. if not, they require just a little modification, but they're worth it

i replaced the bench in my pickup with 2 seats from an '85 pickup, 30 bucks each

the only seats that will work properly in a 4runner are seats out of a 4runner. the sr5 seats are the best , you may fit other seat in it but trying to get someone past then and into the back seats will not be fun.I tried the celica seats but they didnt match the 4runner rails.the truck seats work if you keep the 4runner seat rails.might think about getting your old seats reworked,new foam and fabric.Just my .02

I am going to keep an eye on the ebay seats, thanks.

actually my seats are not too bad. The problem that I have is that the passenger seat is not working. It does not lock in place. The back keeps reclining when someone sits in it. And it won't slide forward for rear seat access.
I know that it has to do with the handle not staying down. because when I zip tie that recline handle down, It works.
Does anyone know how to fix this? or even if it can be fixed.

If you are looking for seat covers try performance products.com they are out of cali and make all sorts of products for the trucks including fitted seat covers for almost all variations on all the diferent trucks,runnuers,and cruisers. have'nt bought them myself so i can't comment on quality but they do respond to questions pretty quickly. hope this helps aviator
