Question Scion HU in 2000 4Runner?

Does anyone know if putting a Scion Head Unit (CD/Radio) will plug right into a 2000 (3rd gen) 4Runnner?

I looked into it. Most units will illuminate orange unless you get a 2005+ with the color-changing option. If this doesn't bother you, it should be plug and play.

Cool, there are plenty of 2006 on Ebay single and in-dash 6 disc changers.

There are some with the Ipod controls, some without.

single disc players are amber color. 6-disc have color changing option. 6 disc units have lots of problems. I tried one in my 2000 4runner. not worth it. search at scionlife.com

I rec'd my 2006 Scion HU yesterday and I proceeded to try and install it last night. I almost got really pissed at this board right off when I found only the antenna plug to be similar, then I remembered the hidden amp. I pulled the two plugs from the amp and plugged in the HU and all was great until I tried to put the trim piece back on and realized I will need to trim this about 2/8" on each side to allow for the install.

What works for this? How do I keep it from looking like total crap when I am done? How have you guys done this? Go slow and just sand it with increasingly higher grit sand paper all the way to a jeweler’s wheel?

Dunno what you paid on eBay, but talking to HUTCHSTACO may have saved you some cash, or at least some headaches:

(note that he's selling one already cut to fit)
