I picked up a 20L Scepter gas can from Generator Joe and am impressed. It's a very stout plastic can. Supposedly the same can used by the US military. It weighs a lot less than the metal cans and won't rub the paint off my roof rack. It can just strap directly to the rack.

Here's the Scepter next to my rusting piece of crap blitz can. I have two blitz cans available, cheap!


It fits perfectly on the Wilderness rack with the Pelican 1650s. No leaks! I wouldn't try mounting a blitz can on its side like that.


Now the rig is finally ready for the family backcountry expedition around Montana and up to Banff! We'll see how the can holds up to the 2,500+ mile trip.
