SAW's and OME

I originally was going to get all OME coils and springs... could I get SAWS in the front, and a OME coil and spring (prolley HD's) in the rear? if so, do I still need the cornfed 1" spacer, or does the SAW's eliminate the need for the spacer to make my 4runner level, like I would with the OME setup?

No problem running the SAW/OME combo. There are several guys here that run that (Schaefer, phong and Darren off the top of my head). You won't need the spacers with the SAWs since it is adjustable. Just dial it to the height you desire. One of the big issues is the price. OME/spacer is a lot cheaper than a set of SAWs.

thats only $185 difference, i dont consider that a lot.

It is a bit more....

SAWs for 675.00 is for just a pair.... fronts...
you still have to get coils and shocks on the rear... dif drop..

From my calculations... the saw config with OME rears are a bit more than just a OME setup... but i guess prices vary... considering a cornfed spacer is about mid to upper 100's... im sure the figgure is around 400-500 difference... I could be wrong since im not looking at my excel spreadsheets, since im not at home.

my comparison was for front only, either way you gotta spend $250 for rear coils/shocks.

I'd beg to differ a bit on the prices- I'm pretty sure the front OME set-up is ~225. That's what I paid for my rear set-up, and the prices I saw for the front from Central offroad were in that same range. The spacers are only that expensive if you go with Corn.- Revtek 1" spacers are significantly cheaper, and OME trim packers can even be used to level out the front. Shipping isn't really an issue- Ducky can pick up the parts directly from Central Offroad in Washington, or pick them up directly from ARB in Seattle, which is what I did for my parts. The SAWS option up front is going to end up being much more expensive.

With that said- the adjustablility of SAWS are nice- if you decide to add a bumper, winch, etc. which is going to add more weight to the front, you won't have to worry about buying another set of coils to get the front lifted again. From what I understand, the ride is pretty sweet as well.

I'm in the same boat as you Ducky. I really like the look of the ARB bumpers, and all though I won't be getting one for a while, I'm thinking about going with the SAWS for that reason. My OME set-up for the rear is sitting on my balcony, waiting for me to make up my mind!

I have a 2004 double cab taco and I'm regualrly running back and forth on a logging trails. Alot of night time critter obstacles and northeast brush so went with an ARB bumper but my front end is sagging. Other than the addition of my new heavy bumper i'm still running TRD stock.

If i only install front coil overs but keep the rest of the stock suspension would that give me the lift i need for the front bumper, give me a more level ride and also give me better suspension for logging roads?

what else would i have to do if anything? Did i just open up a can of worms?

I want to keep it simple so it's good on the road and better on the logging roads

How does it ride? Is the weight of your custom bumper equal to the ARB?

Yeah adjustable is a coilover, where you can crank them up or down to adjust the ride height. I am running ome 891's in the rear, and bilstein 5125's. The front bumper weights a tad less than a arb, but once i get a winch in there it will be heavier. It rides nice right now, bumps are alot smoother than stock.

You can, but it depends on the coilover how far you can crank them down, or you could ride with the socal look. I ran for about 8-9 months on stock suspension with the bumper on, and the only thing that really sagged was my rear end.
