saw 2 door second gen today, first time ever

I was at work today (i work at sams club in teh parking lot, bringing the carts in, making 8.50/hour, how do you think i can afford my truck at my age? ) anyway, i'm always checking out every 4runner that comes in.. but today i saw a white second gen from a distance.. but i saw something different with teh back windows.

sure enough i went up to it, and it only had two doors!

pretty crazy lookin.. but i like my 4door

just wanted to share...

Yah, those things are rare here. I saw a 2-door 2nd gen for the first time just last year.

What's the reason that they're so rare? I forgot... Was it insurance like pinoy mentioned?

They were imported only to the states in '90 & '91, or perhaps only '90.

We have a member on the board here with one, but I forget his username.

It's in his avatar too.

I've seen the 92-95 2-door models up here in Canada.

I found an old post here of a site I found a few months back.
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Garage/4895/

Be aware though his site will go down the more that look at it since it's hosted on Geocities.

I have seen a few around here, and they are pretty rare.

I see a red one around here on a regular basis. I believe they were available until 1992 because of the import tarrif on two door trucks inposed in 1990 I believe after much whining by the big three because the 2 door Pathfinder and 4Runner were taking away from the sales of Blazers and Broncos or was that explores by then.
